Firewheel Youth
WHERE ELSE WOULD YOU BE ON A WEDNESDAY NIGHT?
Firewheel Youth is our ministry to Junior High and High School students (6th-12th grade). We meet every Wednesday night at 7:00pm. Doors open at 6:45pm.
Our Vision
Our Vision fo Firewheel YTH is for students to bring the Church to their Community. All throughout the Bible we see God using young people and today is no different. Our heart and goal is that students would live a life on mission, taking what God does in them on a Wednesday night or Sunday morning into their schools, work places, families, and everywhere they go! The way we accomplish that goal is through Discipleship, community, and being in the Presence of God daily!
FIREWHEEL YTH CULTURES
1. WE ARE PRESENCE SEEKERS
Jeremiah 29:13 “You will seek me and you will find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
We LOVE the presence of God, and will always prioritize time in his presence. At Firewheel YTH we love spending time in worship together and seeking the presence of God as a church family.
2. WE READ TO FEED
2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
We read our bibles to FEED our Spirit! We don’t wait until Wednesday or Sunday to get fed. At Firewheel YTH we value the Word of God and encourage our students to Read and live his word DAILY! We Value BOTH the Presence of God AND the Word of God!
3. WE KEEP THE JOY HOT
James 1:2 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds,”
We will choose to have JOY no matter what! When something isn’t working, when things don’t go our way, when we’re tired, no matter what we will KEEP THE JOY HOT!
4. WE CHOOSE COMMUNITY OVER CROWDS
Acts 2:42 “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”
In acts chapter 2 we see Peter, empowered by the boldness of the Holy Spirit, preach the Gospel message and a crowd of 3000 people come to Christ! As we continue reading in Acts chapter two we see that those people did not stay a crowd but became a community.
At Firewheel YTH we value Community over Crowds. There is a seat for every student at the table. We don’t want to just draw a crowd, but have fun, electric, Jesus centered community take place.
5. WE GET COMFORTABLE WITH GETTING UNCOMFORTABLE
2 Timothy 1:7 “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”
If we are going to live on mission we must kick out the fear of man, and be willing to get uncomfortable. Jesus never promised a life of comfort, but did give us the Great Comforter in his Holy Spirit who is with us every step of the way! As a well known saying goes “You can either have growth or comfort, but you cannot have both”. The promise that Pastor Noah and Abigail make to our students is that they will never ask them to do something they haven’t done yet, we will GROW and step out of comfort zones together!
6. WE GET BACK UP
Proverbs 24:16 For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity.”
When we mess up we will pick ourselves right back up, and place whatever caused us to stumble right at the feet of Jesus. We believe repentance is an essential part of Following Jesus. We will not let shame and condemnation eat our lunch, but instead will repent, change our actions, and keep running our race with endurance!
7. WE WILL HAVE COMPASSION THAT LEADS TO ACTION
Matthew 9:36-38 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
Many times in scripture we see Jesus having compassion when he sees lost, hurting, or broken people. Jesus always followed up that compassion with action, wether healing the sick, casting out demons, or meeting a physical need such as feeding the 5,000. His heart was moved but it didn’t stop there, he DID something about it. We believe that biblical compassion leads to action wether that be sharing the gospel with a friend at school, helping someone in need, or simply smiling at someone that looks like they are having a rough day. We are called to shine our light to others, especially those that need the Love of Jesus and don’t know the gospel.
